Well, I had all day today so time wasn't an excuse. All I could find to photograph was a limp lettuce leaf, let's hope tomorrow is more exiting...

223/365 Perseid meteor shower

I stood outside with my camera on a tripod ready and waiting for the meteor shower. So far I have only seen one shooting star which I failed to capture :-(

222/365 Alton Towers

221/365

Alton Towers, the old and the new.

DSC_6788

Alton Towers, what a fantastic theme park... but there is a problem, the place is an up-selling rip off. The first thing that irritated me was being told that we had to pay to park. You have already paid a small fortune for your tickets (£36 per adult) then you are expected to pay £5 to park. The other rip off is the fast passes, having sold body parts to pay for your tickets you need fast passes to ensure you get on all of the 'big' rides. Another £12 per person!! I was shocked about the sales tactics of the ex-double glazing salesman they employ in the ice cream shops - the lengths they go to up-sell a cornet beggars belief. As I said at the start of this Alton Towers is a fantastic day out but it would be nice if we could all just pay once for a fair day out.

221/365 Cadbury's World

220/365 Cadbury's World

Cadbury's World. A visit to a chocolate factory - what could be better! Before my visit I'd never considered what a huge branding success Cadbury's Dairy Milk is. To any of my friends who have not tried it drop me your address and I'll mail you a bar.
We started our visit with a trip to the essence exhibit - here you could blend melted chocolate with a variety of textures. Sadly the reality was that having finished your pot of melted gloop you couldn't look at another chocolate bar for the rest of the day.
That said we persevered and even visited the gift shop where the girls bought masses of cut price sweets.

An early start this morning - I dropped Thomas and Amy at Heathrow Airport. They are off across the pond to stay with my brother for a couple of weeks. As any regulars here will know Thomas is a keen photographer and promises me he will be doing a daily blog.

What this picture doesn't show well is just how awful the weather was - it was chucking down. I got soaked taking this and that is my excuse for the poor focus!

A crummy day today but my walk across the field reminded me just how lucky I am.
