There are three - well at least three unusual things about this picture. 1. I took this picture before 07:30 this morning. 2. My Daughter was up and about before 07:30. 3. I didn't use a flash - and wish I had.

Thomas is old enough to start driving soon. After much debate we have decided to insure him to drive our old car - this seems the most cost effective option. I was delighted today when he announced that he wanted to clean it. This was not just a case of a quick bucket of water and a sponge as the red paint had faded badly. He would need to cut and polish the bodywork. Somehow or other I got roped in to helping but by the end of the day we had a nice shiny clean car. It was obviously dark when we too the picture but at least you can't see the bits we missed.

Once again approaching midnight I find myself desperately looking for something new to photograph. If you analysed people doing the 365 project I think you could glean lots of interesting information about the individuals. For me, the fact that I normally leave my picture to the last minute is reflective of most things that I do. I always complete the task but it is pretty much to the wire. I am going to try and set myself an earlier deadline to remove some of the end of the day stress but know I won't stick to it as it's not a 'real' target...

Also, if you look at the books in the rather poor picture you will see that I am not good at throwing things away. Ho hum, anyone know a good therapist!!

A better day for us - no emergencies, almost like being on holiday, except for the five hours of gardening. We went down to De Bradlei Wharf this evening to take a picture for the website. I planned on using one of the blue shutters as a background - sadly they had a special sale evening so the place was still open. The picture will have to wait another day.

For my daily shot I ended up at Russel Gardens, I have done two edits one colour one black and white and to be honest I don't really like either :-(

Another throwaway... this project doesn't get any easier. I have a week off work so imagined this week would be a breeze. No chance - Monday we ended up at the vets with Marley and a poorly leg then today Thomas broke a tooth, so it was an emergency trip to the dentist.

My daughter is a member of a dance club and it was their annual show tonight - to be honest I wasn't looking forward to it. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised - 300 plus performers and an audience of over 800. The standard was incredible - great dancing and very impressive costumes. Photographically however things were not so good - very back row of the balcony behind a pillar, meaning I couldn't see the centre of the stage. I suppose we ought to buy our tickets earlier next time! 200mm lens @ 2.8, ISO 3200 all I managed were some very blurry pictures. This is probably the best of a bad lot.

Very little time for a photograph today as I have been working on my website. The set up was really easy but posting multiple images to wordpress is a bit of a nightmare...

A good day today. This morning we had a portrait session with Jamie-Lynne - fortunately the rain stopped and we were able to get some good pictures. We chose Kearsney Abbey as venue - it is a great place, loads of space and infinite options. My job was easy today the pictures can tell the story.

I wanted to experiment with the D90 today, I haven't really had much of a chance to play with it. We are doing a portrait session tomorrow so I thought it would be good to familiarise myself with its settings. Lucky I did because I am finding it difficult getting used to the slow flash synch. Anyway, fortunately for me both Hannah and Bob were prepared to model.

161/365 Another bland offering from me taken in the car park whilst waiting for my daughter to come out of Karate. My son on the other hand has had a much better couple of days - he is apparently doing a photography project at school. It seems to involve taking lots of pictures of pretty girls - so good luck to him. The first example is one of his teachers and today's one of his classmates. I am very proud of his results!!

A busy day and I have pretty much run out of time and inspiration. Also, following tonight's training session I can hardly hold my camera. The subject is one of my wife's extensive necklace connection and the bokeh is created by having a flash behind a piece of cardboard with some holes made with a screwdriver, The necklace was badly lit with a gridded flash.

Zero marks for artistic impression today but for fellow camera geeks these were taken in almost darkness at ISO 3200.

When I started this project one of my aims was to take more pictures of people. I had grand plans of taking one portrait a week of local characters but of course the venture was never more than an idea. One of the people I planned to photograph was an old chap who lived in the old peoples home across the road from me. When I took my dogs for a walk he was often sat on the bench under the trees with his old black lab. He would normally try to have a chat with me and 'the lads' as he referred to my dogs but I normally didn't have time.

This evening I noticed that many of the windows in the home are boarded up - it appears the place has been closed down. I don't know what has happened to the residents or where they have been moved to but feel a bit sad and stupid that I was unaware it was happening. I had heard rumours but didn't realise it was imminent. I am also not over keen on such a big building being left empty - I hate to think what is planned for it.

Back it up - back it up!! Every hard drive will fail - advise I've given out on many occasions. Sadly my laptop drive died today, what's worse is my son had been using it for his school research project. The drive is in the freezer overnight - hopefully we can recover the data tomorrow. I don't feel very optimistic :-(
